Now, online bingo is fun don’t get me wrong and I love playing it, but it can be pretty hectic and crazy (it certainly tends to get my blood pressure up); and over time this can wear me down and sap all the enjoyment from the game. Sometimes I just want to relax, or at least at the end of a particularly stressful day I really don’t need anything else contributing to the cocktail of adrenalin and other stress hormones coursing through my veins. So I’ve prepared a couple of consideration to take into account for when you are gearing up to unwind at the end of a long day with your favorite past time of bingo. Equally, these techniques can be used to get outside of bingo for more mundane situations (like work).
Plenty of Rest
The first consideration is getting plenty of sleep and necessary time away from the activity in question as these are the largest two contributing factors to burnout. I’ve always been told that you should buy the best (or most comfortable) mattress that you can afford—the logic behind which is that you spend a full 1/3rd of your life lying in bed so it would be somewhat foolish to spend that time on a bad mattress if you can afford better.
Good Diet
The thing about online bingo is that once you get into the swing of it it’s difficult to break away to perform other task that require attention. I’m not saying that it’s impossible to get away from, just that you are much more likely to order pizza or have something quick and easy (which almost invariably is bad for you). The point being that a well-made meal will likely have more complex carbohydrates and low fat protein (think chicken with wild rice) and keep you fuelled up for longer. Also you might even end up losing weight which feels very comfortable indeed.
Good Chair
Another solid investment for anyone who spends significant time at a desk (be it at work, or at home playing bingo) is a good office chair. A good chair is integral to good posture which facilitates good circulation and definitely cuts down on back pain. Additionally if you try and keep your posture in mind it will naturally improve over time conferring the same benefits noted above.
Therapeutic Breathing
During particularly exhilarating gaming sessions it’s a good idea to take a couple seconds every hour or so to focus on your breathing. Simply inhale slowly, hold for a couple seconds or however long feels appropriate, and release slowly. Obviously don’t go on breathing like this all the time, but once every hour or so can really bring down your stress level.
